"Oil Spills"

Oil spills are a problem because it pollutes the water. Oil spills hurt animals because it damages their skin. Oil spills can be caused by boats and large tankers. A big oil spill can hurt many animals in the ocean. I will help clean up oil spills with a group.

Oil spills start by accidents with boats and pipelines. If people are drilling in the ocean it could cause oil spills. When the oil gets in the water it floats on the surface. The oil spreads quickly over the water. If oil spills spread a lot it would damage the animals in the ocean and nearby beaches.

Oil spills hurt many animals and plants in the ocean. Oil spills hurt sea bird or others because it gets on their skin. The animals need their skin to be clean to stay warm. If the animals eat the oil they could die. If the oil gets on land it could hurt the land animals like turtles or snails.

To help solve this problem, I plan on cleaning up the water. I will start to look up dates for cleaning up oil spills. If I hear about oil spills nearby I might try to help clean it up. This will help because cleaning up oil spills will help the environment.
