Everett

Have you ever wondered about how credit cards work? Credit card companies will sometimes set limits on how much you can charge on your credit card. If your credit card is stolen, you are only liable to the first 50 of charges. If you don’t pay your credit card bill in the grace period it gets extra finance charges. The charges are actually interest.

Have you ever thought about how checks work? Checks are sort of like credit cards. The difference is that checks are charged immediately whereas credit cards are charged at the end of the month. Checks are kept in check books. Have you ever wondered about how debit cards work? Debit cards are used around the world. Debit cards allow you to withdraw money from ATM’s Laser is one of the debit card businesses in Ireland. There are many different types of debit card brands around the world.

  1. Hi Everett,
I liked your use of questions followed by the facts. You could start the information on debit cards on a new line so the reader can see you are talking about three things.

  2. I am sorry to tell you that some years ago my credit card was stolen. I was scared about the expensive things someone had charged to my card, but just like you said, the bank had a liability limit on the credit card. In fact, they were very nice and did not even charge me the fifty dollars! Now I am extra, EXTRA careful with my credit card, and I keep it in a safe place at all times.

You are also correct about the interest charges on credit cards which are added if you do not pay the full balance within the grace period. Always remember to pay in full and on time, because it is no fun to have to pay that interest! I see some of your classmates have some good ideas on budgeting, and I will try to follow their advice, too.

Thanks, Everett! Great reporting about the many ways to make purchases!

  3. Hi Everett,

This article was very informative! You are right -- it is very important to pay off your credit card every month because interest charges can get expensive over time.

    Thanks for all the information!

  7. Everett, I loved how you used very obvious details. Who knew that you were only liable
to the first 50 dollars when someone steals your credit card? I hope that you publish more works on money related topics.
