We will share a snack at the park and play with our buddies. Students will then walk back to the school with their buddies. If you would like to come, you are welcome to accompany us on the trip. Please make sure your child has sunscreen and wears clothes for the weather.

Summer Birthday Celebration: We will celebrate summer birthdays on the last day of school at 1:00pm. If your child has a birthday in June – August, feel free to bring something to share with the class.

Science: This week we had a guest speaker and were able to look at plants through a microscope. We started comparing the life cycles of plants and animals. Students found many similarities between both plants and animals.

Writing: This week we are finishing up our writing portfolios. Students are working hard to put all of their writings in order and to make books to take home. You should see them on the last day of school.

Class song written by the students

Over in the forest

Over in the forest,
hiding from the sun
lived an old mother bat
and her little bat one.
Hide little bat.
I hide said the one.
And it hid in the forest
as it hid from the sun.

Over in the forest
While hunting for some food
Lived an old mother bobcat
And her little bobcat two.
Climb said the mother.
We climb said the two.
And they climbed in the forest
While hunting for some food.

Over in the forest
In a big hollow tree
Lived a furry mother fox
And her little foxes three.
Pounce said the mother
We pounce said the three.
And they pounced in the forest
in the big hollow tree.

Over in the forest
Pecking at a sycamore
Lived an old mother woodpecker
And her woodpecker four.
Eat said the mother
We eat said the six.
And they ate in the forest
At the old sycamore.

Over in the forest
near lots of bee hives
lived an old mother newt
and her little newts five.
Crawl said the mother.
We crawl said the 5.
And they crawled in the forest
near lots of hives.

Over in the forest
in a den full of sticks
Lived an old mother coyote
And her little coyote six.
Howl said the mother.
We howl said the six.
And they howled in a forest in a den
Full of sticks.
