Have you ever ridden a horse? I’ve ridden one. You need a horse seat. Have you fed horses? Horses eat a lot of food. They eat apples, hay, grass and carrots. You need to help horses. You always need to check horses for signs to see if they are healthy.
Point: I'll bet it was a lot of fun for you to ride a horse. Horses do eat a lot of food, partly because they are so big, and you are right that they need help from people if they are not wild horses.
