Dear Families,
Thank you for a wonderful back to school night! If you did not get a chance to sign up for a conference, please email me to set up a time. My email is sluria_at_pps.net.

Math: This week we are creating pictographs and bar graphs. We did an ice cream survey in the classroom on Friday and today we finished a book survey for math.   We are starting work on addition, subtraction and multiplication fluency. Your child for the next few weeks will have five minutes to complete a math page. As they improve, they will move onto harder pages. You can find lots of practice pages for free at this website: http://themathworksheetsite.com/

Reading: The students choose their topics for the summative IB presentations for next week. Ask your child about their topic. They will be writing 1-3 paragraphs about their topic. They will also present their findings to the class. Please come to the presentation if you are able to do so! Here is a link to some sites your child may have visited this week: http://kid-writers.blogspot.com/2013/10/ib-project-research-sites.html

Science:  Last week we learned about the difference between mass and volume!

Spelling: You will find that some words are repeated in the spelling list, but often in a different form. I repeat words that students have a difficult time with spelling in their work or on the tests. Also, each week there will be a few of the most commonly misspelled words that 3rd graders struggle with!

PE: We have PE on Fridays. Please make sure your child wears gym shoes those days. Thanks!

Library: Our library day is Thursday. Please make sure books are returned to school on Wednesday so they can be checked in   before library.

Feel free to write me a note, email me or call if you have any questions or concerns.
Ms. Luria
